In the current study, we sought to replicate previous findings with a larger population sample and to examine the association between homeless and suicide both with US veterans and other adults in the general population. We examined rates of suicidal attempts among homeless adults as in previous studies and hypothesised that homelessness is a factor that is independently associated with suicide, adjusting for other known associated factors such as demographics, mental illness, substance use disorders and other psychosocial characteristics.
