David Brady is a professor in the School of Public Policy at the University of California, Riverside, and the Director of the Blum Initiative on Global and Regional Poverty. Brady earned his P.h.D. in sociology and public affairs at Indiana University in 2001. He teaches classes in quantitative methods, poverty, inequality, and social policy. Before UCR, he was the Director of the Inequality and Social Policy Department at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, where he remains a Fellow. Additionally, he is the author of Rich Democracies, Poor People.

Currently, he investigates a variety of research questions related to poverty and inequality, comparative political economy, social policy, politics, health and healthcare, globalization and development, and work and labor.
